About TISSINGTON TRAIL HALF MARATHON

he Tissington Trail Half Marathon has established itself as a real favourite with runners, often selling out months in advance, and we hold this race on two dates across one weekend to accommodate as many runners as possible. We're proud that the race regularly features in the Runner's World top 10 UK trail races.

The Tissington Trail, the site of a former railway line from Ashbourne to Buxton, runs along a 13 mile route from Parsley Hay to Ashbourne in Derbyshire. Surrounded by beautiful countryside the traffic-free trail is ideal for a cracking half marathon and, because the route is slightly downhill all the way, you've got gravity on your side!

This race features chip timing, a quality bespoke medal for all finishers, plus well-stocked aid stations and finish line goodies! Commemorative finisher's technical t-shirts will also be available to purchase.

Prizes from the event are generously sponsored by Big Bobble Hats who will be present on the day of the event.

We are also pleased to welcome Much Better Adventures on board as one of our event partners, an award-winning platform for booking unique, ready-made adventure weekends with amazing local hosts. Join a small social group of like-minded people, or book privately just for you and friends. From Kayaking and Wildcamping the Norwegian Fjords to climbing Mt Toubkal in Morocco, check out the amazing adventures you could have on your next weekend away.

As an event entrant, you can get £25 credit to use on any adventure weekend and we'll also have one place on one of their trips available to win for one lucky entrant!

The Course
This is a rare opportunity to run a half marathon in Derbyshire without hills! The race is a point to point race from Parsley Hay to Ashbourne along the traffic-free Tissington Trail. Coach transport will take you from the Race HQ in Ashbourne to the Race Start in Parsley, you then run back along the trail to reach the finish! The route is slightly downhill virtually all the way, so it's a great course for runners of all abilities and a fantastic introduction to the half marathon distance for runners of all abilities.

Although the route is traffic-free, the trail will still be open to other trail users, including cyclists, walkers and horse-riders.

First Aid
Private medical services will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. Please note that due to the nature of the trail, it is not possible to provide contiuous supervision all along the course. Should you become unwell, you will be advised to alert a marshal, who will then arrange assistance for you. There will also be a sweep marshal following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.
