About Zoo Explorers at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo (5-7 year olds)
Zoo Explorers is a fantastic, exciting one day course for children aged 5-7 who are ready to explore the Zoo and learn more! Each day is specially designed to ensure children get to explore, investigate and enjoy the Zoo. Supported by the Discovery & Learning team, children will have the opportunity to get up close with a selection of animals as well as make new friends and engage in exciting animal themed activities.
There are two different Zoo Explorer courses - ‘Egg-cellent Animals’ and ‘Animal Antics’. Each includes explorations, games and zookeeper activities. See the Experience section for more information.
Your course includes
- One day at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo
- A Zoo Explorers sticker sheet to record their day
- A Zoo Explorers certificate of attendance
- A unique Zoo Explorers t-shirt
- A copy of all the photos taken on the course
Experience
The content of the courses will be a mixture of making animal enrichment, themed challenges and fun Zoo themed activities. A sample outline of both courses is below, but please be aware that timings and activities are all subject to change.
‘Egg-cellent Animals’ focuses on animal classification and lifecycles. Children will learn about animals that lay eggs, handle a range of animal species and go behind the scenes of animal enclosures.
‘Animal Antics’ focuses on animal habitats and amazing adaptations they have to survive. Children will learn about different animal habitats, put some adaptations to the test in our amazing animal obstacle course, handle a range of animals and go behind the scenes of animal enclosures.
The courses are run independent of each other on alternative days.

- The cost per child is £90 (includes entry into the Zoo and Zoo Explorers t-shirt).
- ZSL members receive a 10% discount.
