This trip is quite Challenging and certainly, it will test your stamina during the ride, but this doesn't mean that you need a six pack abs or Olympic player to complete this ride. anyone who is physically fit can do it. The only thing that it takes is motivation & practicing a routine prior to your departure because the more you practice, more enjoyable the journey would be. The practice schedule varies from person to person. If you are a complete novice to cycling & haven't cycled before, then it takes somewhat more sweating than the one who is a regular to pedaling. Since the expedition involves high altitude & uphill riding conditions. The majority of the riding is on paved roads or hard packed dirt roads. Most are in fairly good condition but there are also some rough sections. The distance covered varies on each day depending upon the gradient of the route. The longest distance covered in a day is 74 km when its mostly downhill & the shortest is 38 km's when it's a complete ascent. Your Bike:
We recommend that you bring a mountain bike that you are familiar with, i.e. not too new. The bike should have front suspension, As the trip crosses several high altitudes passes, your bike should be suitable for sustained climbing. Tires suitable for riding on hard packed off road conditions are recommended. It is very important that your bike is in excellent running order before the trip. If you have servicing work done before leaving for Manali, make sure you have ridden your bike several times before departure, ensuring everything is working as it should be. We will be carrying tools and some spare parts for roadside repairs. Do not expect to be able to purchase any bicycle products while in Manali. You can also hire a mountain bike in Manali also charges Ranges from 600-900 per day. Make your bike booking in advance otherwise, you will not be able to get a suitable bike for you.
Please note: If you are hiring a bike you do not need to bring spares – just a pump, repair kit and a couple of inner tubes. You should bring the following with you as a minimum. Whilst not essential, it is a good idea that you familiarize yourself with how to carry out at least some basic repairs e.g. fixing a puncture, changing an inner tube. Naturally, our bike guide will always be happy to assist with any basic repairs, but due to the often remote nature of our trips, being able to carry out a simple repair can save time and inconvenience waiting for assistance.
