About Festival of Ideas: Lauren Child
Join us for a rare treat as author, illustrator and Waterstones Children’s Laureate, Lauren Child discusses the art and joy in creating children’s books.
As one of the most influential and innovative writers of her generation, Child has a unique ability to see the world through children’s eyes. Best known as the creator of the successful book series Clarice Bean, Ruby Redfort and Charlie and Lola, in 2017 Child was appointed Waterstones Children’s Laureate. She believes passionately in the importance of creativity and strives to forge stronger links between the world of children’s literature and other art forms such as fine art, film, music, television and design.
In this family event, Child will look at the inspirations behind her work, the magic of reading and writing for children and how ideas can come from anywhere. This talk will be followed by a Q&A.
This talk will be accompanied with speech-to-text transcription by STAGETEXT and BSL (British Sign Language) interpretation.
This event is open to all ages but recommended for ages 7+
