The street cats of Istanbul: hundreds of thousands of them roam Turkey’s megacity freely, wandering in and out of people’s lives, an essential part of the communities that make the city so rich. In KEDI, filmmaker Ceyda Torun and her nimble cinematographer, Charlie Wuppermann, train their prowling, cat’s eye-level cameras on the stories of seven such felines — Sari, Bengü, Aslan Parçasi, Psikopat, Deniz, Gamsiz, and Duman— stalking these peripatetic creatures through streets, alleyways, deserted basements, and rooftops. “Delightful and visually splendid” – Stephanie Zacharek, TIME.
