About Improv 101 - Workshops with ICB

For all of the above, we bring to you a monthly Improv 101 Workshop where we cover the basics of Improvisation in a very helpful, encouraging and safe environment. 

This workshop will keep recurring on the 2nd Sunday of every month with 3 facilitators to guide each session. The facilitators will be: Nasir Nash,Abhishek Desai and Madhu Shukla.

More about the facilitators below:

Nasir- Nasir has been learning and performing Improv Theatre for the last seven and a half years. His journey began in July 2010 with his first workshop in Improv, in Mumbai. Since then, he has performed with his alma mater group- Improv Comedy Mumbai (ICM) uptil September 2014. In June 2015, he set up Improv Comedy Bangalore (ICB). Altogether, he has performed in over 80 shows across India.

Some of his Improv milestones include: Training a beginner’s batch of students in Mumbai for 8 months and setting them up for shows, training the new members in Improv at ICB, conducting Improv workshops for corporates namely Sony, Globus Travels and TE Connectivity, helping conceptulize and perform in India’s first Improvised musical show by ICB in December 201, set up and facilitate an 8 week Improv course for kids between 10 - 12 years as a part of their theatre learning in association with Trinity School of London.

Abhishek - Abhishek is a co-founder and improviser with ICB since July 2015. A trained play backer & a freelance actor with performance experience in over 7 staged productions across the different formats of theatre – Improvisation, playback and proscenium. His teaching projects include:
- Teaching theatre to kids aged between 7-14 at the Valley
School KFI since July 2017
- Direction of the ‘Inclusion and diversity’ street-play at TE
Connectivity for the TE Inclusion & Diversity week 2015.
- Direction of the play ‘The Sales success stories for the year
2016’ at TE Connectivity

- ‘Introduction to Improv’ & production of the first short-
form improv showcase at Infosys with the group ‘The Monday Improvisers’ on March 2017
- Moderation of the DiE – Drama in Education project - A
knowledge sharing platform for all practitioners of theatre
in the education space - for the Theatre professionals since
September 2017.
- Co-facilitation of ‘Let’s play’ – A workshop for discovering
play and creativity through Improv for Playspace during
TE’s annual HR conference in 2017
- Lead and co-facilitation of several Improv based projects
for ICB with clients like Endurance International group,
Chariot India (For a group of travelling MBA graduates from
Chicago) & Globus – Family of brands

Madhu - Madhu Shukla is from Bangalore working as a
theatre based facilitator and the founder of Playspace
which offers theatre based learning experiences for
organisations. After her post-graduation in acting from
The National School of Drama, New Delhi, in 2006 she
has explored the applications of theatre for personal
transformation and leadership in the social as well as
educational spaces. She uses techniques from
psychodrama, theatre of the oppressed, improvisations
and creative arts to deliver her learning experiences.
With over 12 years of experience in the space of leaning and growth, she has delivered a range of diverse theatre based learning programs in the context of impactful and precise communication, powerful leadership presence, developing agility for change, using stories to influence and developing skills for trustful collaboration to name a few. She is also a certified coach from the International Coach Federation and a certified Psychodrama Practitioner. She continues to perform as an improviser with Improv Comedy Bangalore, a professional ensemble that does improvisational theatre shows regularly. She is also a storyteller and through her initiative By the River, takes the joy of listening to stories for introspection and building empathetic communities to adults.
