About A Day in the Life: Working on the Railroad

Costumed interpreters perform the tasks that made the Allegheny Portage Railroad function. Programs include stonecutting, log hewing, rope making, clothing, historic toys and games, and more! Programs vary on a daily basis, so inquire at the Visitor Center to see which programs are being offered the day of your visit. These programs are hands-on and usually require a little help from the younger visitors in the group! Do keep in mind that while it is possible to move some programs indoors, inclement weather (i.e. thunderstorms) may cause the cancellation of programs during the day.
